Fosfomycin in the composition of Fonurol has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action. It is effective against such strains of uropathogens as: E. Coli, Klebsiella, Citrobacterspp., Enterobacterspp., Proteusmirabilis, S. faecalis. The drug is also effective against penicillinase-producing strains.

Due to the enterohepatic circulation, the therapeutic level of fosfomycin maintains in the bladder for a long time (up to 48 hours), which allows the treatment course to be shortened to 1 day. Usually, this time is enough for urine sterilization and recovery.

Fonurol comes in sachets, that contain 5,631 g of fosfomycin trometamol, which is equivalent to 3,0 g of fosfomycin.

The drug is dispensed on prescription only.
