October 12 – World Arthritis Day

According to the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO), World Arthritis Day is celebrated annually on October 12.

Astrapharm, as a national manufacturer of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to treat arthritis, seeks to draw public attention to the problems of rheumatological diseases, to remind them of the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of this common disease.

Arthritis is inflammation of one or more joints that causes pain, fever, stiffness, swelling, and limited mobility in the affected joints.

According to the WHO, approximately every hundredth inhabitant of the planet suffers from arthritis. Most often, rheumatic diseases affect able-bodied people between the ages of 30 and 50, but a person of any age can get sick.

In order to prevent the development of arthritis, we recommend that you adhere to simple rules of a healthy lifestyle:
• eat a balanced diet;
• maintain normal body weight;
• be physically active and devote at least 150 minutes a week to regular physical activity;
• give up bad habits: smoking and alcohol consumption;
• are more often in the fresh air.

If arthritis nevertheless occurs, in addition to lifestyle changes, to reduce the severity of pain, you must regularly take medications prescribed by your doctor.

Astrapharm’s portfolio of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs includes:
• a derivative of enolic acids – Melsi (meloxicam);
• a derivative of propionic acid – Ketodex (dexketoprofen trometamol);
• sulfonanilide – Nimelgan (nomesulide).

In addition to these drugs, for the treatment of arthritis, the pharmaceutical company Astrafarm produces chondroprotective:
• chondroitin sulfate – Hitart in injectable form;
• oral combined chondroprotective Hitart, which contains 3 active substances: glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM (natural sulfur).
