Metformin-Astrapharm: keep your diabetes under control!
On November 14, World Diabetes Day is celebrated around the world – one of the most common diseases in modern society.
Currently, more than 537 million people are living with diabetes, most of the men and women of working age. Half of the patients remain undiagnosed, and millions more are at risk (1).
In 2021-2023, the World Diabetes Day campaign will focus on a special theme – access to diabetes care. And this is no coincidence: millions of people still do not have the opportunity to receive adequate and effective treatment for the disease. But they, like no one else, need constant medication support in order to manage their condition and avoid serious complications (2).
Since 2018, the pharmaceutical company Astrapharm has been producing a tabletted hypoglycemic drug – Metformin-Astrapharm and makes diabetes treatment available for every Ukrainian.
Metformin hydrochloride, which is part of Metformin-Astrapharm, has three mechanisms of antidiabetic action:
• leads to a decrease in the synthesis of glucose in the liver due to inhibition of gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis;
• improves insulin sensitivity in muscles, which leads to improved peripheral uptake and utilization of glucose;
• delays the absorption of glucose in the intestine.
Metformin-Astrapharm is available in the form of film-coated tablets that contain 500, 850, or 1000 mg of metformin hydrochloride.
The drug is used exclusively as directed by a physician and is available with a prescription.
Now Metformin-Astrapharm is included in the list of medicines of the government program “Affordable Medicines”, thanks to which every citizen of Ukraine can purchase it at the absolute minimum price on the prescription of his doctor (3).
Astrapharm is the art of helping people!
