Fonurol
Release Forms:
The composition of 1 sachet:
- active ingredient: fosfomycin trometamol – 5.631 g, equivalent to 3.0 g of fosfomycin;
- auxiliary substances: saccharin, sucrose, mandarin flavor, orange flavor.
Main physicochemical properties: granulated white powder with a specific mandarin scent.
Laminated foil sachets. 1 sachet in a cardboard box.
Indications for use.
Treatment of acute uncomplicated cystitis in women and girls aged 12 years and older. Prevention of infections in adult men undergoing transrectal prostate biopsy.
Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any other component of the drug, severe renal failure (creatinine clearance < 10 ml/min), children under 12 years old, undergoing hemodialysis.
Method of application and recommended daily amount.
Fonurol® is taken orally on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime, after bladder emptying. The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in 1 glass of water and consumed immediately.
Simultaneous food intake slows down the absorption of fosfomycin. Therefore, it is recommended to take the drug on an empty stomach or 2–3 hours after meals.
Treatment: Adults and adolescents weighing 50 kg or more should take 1 sachet (3 g) of Fonurol® once daily.
Prevention: Adults weighing 50 kg or more should take 1 sachet (3 g) of Fonurol® 3 hours before and 24 hours after the procedure.
Children.
Indicated for girls aged 12 years and older for the treatment of acute uncomplicated cystitis. The safety and efficacy of fosfomycin in children under 12 years old have not been established.
